‘Carden Old Gold’ is sparkling

Carden Vines

It was all hands to the vines at Carden Park Hotel last week as the 2008 crop of grapes was picked and packed ready for production. Grapes have long been grown on the sunny south-west facing slopes at Carden Park and this year particular care and attention has been paid to the pruning and trellising ensuring a healthy, bumper crop.

The Seyval Blanc grapes are particularly suited to the English climate and produce a sparkling wine with a light, nutty and crisp flavour. Importantly, the variety has the unique qualities needed for secondary fermentation in the bottle allowing it to be produced in the traditional ‘Champenois’ method.

The ‘Carden Old Gold’ wine, named in honour of the famous colours of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, will be sold to guests at Carden Park Hotel and Molineux and will also be available in gift packs and local outlets.
